The distance from Sun to Earth is about 150 million kilometers. Whether you take the surface or the core of the Earth (or the Sun) doesn't make much difference, since the radii of Sun and Earth are quite small, compared to the distances. In any case, I believe that the distances are usually specified from center to center.
