The belt routing can usually be found on a label attached to the underside of the hood. If the sticker is missing, here's a description of the routing: Scenario #1: WITH air conditioning There should be a total of 6 pulleys that make contact with the belt. From top to bottom, Power Steering pump, alternator, tensioner, water pump, crankshaft, and A/C compressor. The pulleys that will make contact with the backside of the belt (the smooth side) are the tensioner and the water pump pulley. All the other pulleys contact the belt on the underside (grooved side). Scenario #2: WITHOUT air conditioning Basically same as the above, except there is no A/C compressor.
The drivebelt routing decal on the radiator shroud to help during drivebelt install
when you stand in front of the car look to the left on the frame that runs in front of the radiator and there should be a sticker showing the belt routing.
If the old belt is still installed, make a quick sketch of the pulleys and the belt routing. Some vehicles have a routing diagram sticker under the hood. Some belt sleeves (such as the GoodYear Gatorback) come with diagrams of the engines that particular belt fits. They aren't always perfect, but will get you close enough that you can figure it out. -J-Ri

i will find out 4 u my dads a mechanic
Hey Christy==There should be a schematic on the fan shroud showing the routing of the belt. If not, go to a used car lot and find a car with a like engine and draw you a schematic. The idler simplly lifts and holds preasure on the belt. Goodluck, Joe
There is no standalone "power steering belt" on a 94 cavalier, just one long serpentine belt. There is a diagram in front of the motor on the passenger side right next to the prop rod. That diagram shows proper belt routing.
There generally is a square hole in the belt tensioner mounting bracket. Insert the square end of a rachet or breaker bar in this and pull back to relieve tension. As you remove the belt pay attention to the belt routing to make sure you install the new one in the same way..1930fcoupe

Note:The drivebelt routing decal on the radiator shroud to help during drivebelt install * To replace the belt rotate the tensioner pulley clockwise to release belt tension * Remove the belt from the auxiliary components and slowly release the tensioner * Route the new belt over the various pulleys again rotating the tensioner to allow the belt to be installed then release the belt tensioner
It has a timing chain, not a belt. -------- yes
