As on 1 Jan 2010:
1st Time Offender for minor litter (eg. cigarette butts, sweet wrapers, bus tickets) = SGD 300
2nd Time Offender & subsequent (or 1st Time offender for major litter ie. anything bigger than a can of Coke) = SGD 500 and court attendance may be required with judges having an option of concurrently ordering a "Corrective Work Order" a.k.a "CWO".
ps. CWO is design to humilate offenders by asking them to clean up dirty estates or beaches while doning lumnious jackets bearing "CWO" insignia. Media will be invited to cover the event and such coverages will sometimes be covered in local news.
well you get thrown to changi prison for a year and have a 10000 SGD fine.
fine
Singapore's nickname is "The fine country". That's because you get fined for lots of things like littering, feeding monkeys, spitting gum on the floor, sticking gum below the chair/table and more.
The minimum fine for littering in North Carolina is $250.00 (as of 2014). However, the fine can go up as high as $1,000.00.
the solutions to littering is to provide more bins and to put down a hefty fine
The fine depends on what country you are located in.
Littering in Texas can get you a $500 fine, it is a Class C Misdemeanor (If what was littered was less than 5 pounds). Littering over 5 pounds is a Class B Misdemeanor which carries a fine of up to $2,000. Texas motto "Don't Mess with Texas"
Singapore has very strict laws against any form of littering.
Up to a 100$ dollar fine.
As of 2010, $6,250.00 is the maximum fine.
Fines can range from a few dollars to the draconian measures present in Singapore. There is an upfront fine of $1000 and a penalty of "community worK". Failure to do the "community work" of picking up trash leads to a further fime of $5000.
Because that is what the state legislature set it at.
