What is the dominant generation of Bryophytes?

In vascular plants, the principal generation phase is the sporophyte, which is usually diploid with two sets of chromosomes per cell. By contrast, the principal generation phase in non-vascular plants is usually the gametophyte, which is haploid with one set of chromosomes per cell.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vascular_plants

What is archespirium?

Archesporium is a cell or cell structure in a sporophyte from which spores may later develop during the alternate generation.

Describe in order the major events in life cycle of a plant starting with a zygote?

A sperm cell and egg cell join to form zygote. the zygote then develpopes into a sporophyte. the sporophyte produces spores, which develope into the gametophuyte. then the gametophyte produce sperm cells and eggs cells, and the cycle starts again.

When does the cell grow in size during the cell cycle?

it gets bigger

Why do gametophytes die after the sporophyte starts to grow?

The gametophyte is responsible for producing gametes, both male and female. When a male gamete fertilizes the female gamete, a zygote, or fertilized cell is created. This zygote matures and grows (through mitosis) into a sporophyte. At this point, the gametophyte has already done its job, and is not needed. Therefore it dies. The sporophyte releases spores, which eventually develop into gametophytes, and the cycle restarts.

What is Amphithecium?

The outer, "Ectodermal" cell layer of the Sporophyte in basal plants.

When a sex cell divides in mitosis what is the result?

the cell divides to get 2 new cells. If you may have learned, sex cells can only divide four times. in a female egg cell, only one cell out of those can make a kid. In a male, all four cells are ready to make babies.

First stage of the cell cycle?

Interphase

What is the first phase of the cell cycle?

The first phase of the cell cell cycle is interphase, followed by pro-phase, meta-phase, telo-phase, and ending with ana-phase. Enjoy!

does the sperm cell come from male or female?

Gametes come from both the mother and the father. The mother's gamete is known as an egg and the father's gamete is known as a sperm.

What does a cell do in the third stage of the cell cycle?

he mitotic cell cycle is as follows:Gap 1SynthesisGap 2MitosisCytokinesisMitosis is the process by which the original cell (parent cell) divides to create an exact copy of the original cell (daughter cell). The mitotic cell cycle is composed of 5 stages that allow the cell to produce a "clone" of the original cell. The cell cycle proceeds as follows: Gap 1, Synthesis, Gap 2, Mitosis, and Cytokinesis. The first grouping of stages known as interphase, contains the first 3 of the 5 cell cycle stages.
