100 degrees F The answer to JP-8 flash point is at the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS MARINE CORPS DETACHMENT site at: <--- Can you REALLY trust anything that is stated in a brain washing military branch document??? The marine corp is FAMOUS for lying on its' technicial data sheets. It says: "JP-8 is a kerosene type fuel suitable for most turbine engined aircraft. It has a flash point of 100 degrees F and a freezing pointof -47 degrees C." THANKS FOR DELETING ALL THE COMMENTS THAT WERE LISTED BEFORE YOURS YOU DUMB@SS. Tell me this then; when it gets up to 140 degrees in Iraq, why doesn't the fuel tanks with the JP-8 hit their flash point and combust?? Those tanks set out in the sun all day long and are elevated off the ground in their secondary containments and that lets the hot air circulate all around them. **** The Flashpoint is not the same as the autoignition temperature. You still need a spark at 100 degrees or more. Since its the vapors that ignite fuel below 100 degrees you can throw a match in the liquid and it will put it will not ignite at atmosheric pressure. If you vaporize it like in the fuel system of a truck of course it will combust at lower temperatures. Pressures also will set it off of course.

Motor oil or engine oil is an oil used for lubrication of various internal combustion engines. The main function is to lubricate moving parts; it also cleans, inhibits corrosion, improves sealing, and cools the engine by carrying heat away from moving parts.

Motor oils are derived from petroleum-based and non-petroleum-synthesized chemical compounds. Motor oils today are mainly blended by using base oils composed of hydrocarbons, polyalphaolefins (PAO), and polyinternal olefins (PIO), thus organic compounds consisting entirely of carbon and hydrogen. The base oils of some high-performance motor oils contain up to 20 wt.-% of esters.
