p......... ignore the "p......." but um plate tectonics shifting is what is causing that. (earths crustal plates) and its called a transform boundry if theyre sliding past each other. a convergent boundry if they -><- hit each other and divergent if they <--> pull away. and because of that and sea floor spreading the Pacific Ocean gets smaller by 2.5 cm each year while the Atlantic Ocean gets bigger by about 2.5 cm each year...... ------- nichole brooks did this :)
