Velocity = Distance/Time for most all movement problems

While the above formula is true for most movement problems, air speed is not a velocity. Air speed is speed of an aircraft relative to the surrounding air. The air speed of a hot air balloon is always zero because it is not moving through the air.

How does a balloon expand?

when you fill a balloon with air the air makes pressure. the air pressure maximizes the balloon fabric allowing the balloon to expand.

When you insert a balloon into a bottle and you pump air into the balloon why the balloon will not fill up the bottle?

Balloon will not fill up the full bottle in this experiment as the air is restricted by the walls of the balloon. Balloon is a solid so the air will take its shape.

What if a balloon is heated what happens to the volume of the air in the balloon if the pressure is constant?

For a balloon that is sealed and not full the volume of air inside the balloon will increase as it is heated. This is not however how hot air balloons work. A hot air balloon is essentially a fixed volume when it is inflated. If the air inside the balloon is heated the air inside becomes less dense so some of the air exits the balloon via the mouth of the balloon. As the air inside the balloon cools it becomes more dense so some air is ingested via the mouth of the balloon to keep it full. With each heating and cooling cycle, the pressure inside the balloon remains constant, the volume of the balloon remains constant but there is this movement of air out of and back into the balloon. P=VT Poop

What is it called when you squeeze air into a balloon?

Filling a balloon with air is called inflating it.

If you place a balloon filled with air into the refriferator the balloon will get smaller. The balloon undergoes what?

The air particles in the balloon compress due to the cold atmosphere in the refrigerator which causes the balloon to be smaller.

What is the average speed of a hot air balloon?

The average speed of a hot air balloon depends a lot on the environment. The Pacific Flyer actually recorded the fastest ground speed for a manned balloon at 245 mph.

How does a hot air balloon come down?

In rising, a hot air balloon works the same way as a helium balloon : the hot air inside is less dense than the surrounding air outside the balloon. The heavier outside air pushes below the balloon and forces it upward. To come down is easier in a hot air balloon. Unless it is continually reheated, its temperature reverts to that of the surrounding air and the balloon settles back to the Earth under its own weight. Vents that release the heated air (like venting helium in a helium balloon) is an alternative to increase the speed of descent.

How does hot and cold air have an effect on an balloon?

If there is warm air in the balloon, cooler air makes the balloon rise and if there is cold air in the balloon warmer air makes the balloon fall.

What happens to the speed of the particles inside an air-filled balloon if the temperature of the balloon increases?

They move faster.Particles on the outside of the balloon are slower. The particles will move faster due to an increase in their kinetic energy.
