The Bible does not specify what the fruit was or what it looked like. I believe it was a specific fruit that was in the Garden of Eden exclusively. God banned Adam and Eve from the Garden and that put the tree out of the reach of man. I do not think that we have to worry about accidently eating the fruit today. The damage has already been done by Adam and Eve by eating the forbidden fruit and introducing sin into the world.
