The rumen.
Rumen degradable protein (RDP) is feed protein that can be broken down by microbial enzymes in the rumen (neutral pH) where the resulting nitrogen, AA's or peptides are either utilized to meet microbial requirements or if unused, ammonia which is absorbed across the rumen wall and either recycled or excreted. Look up P. J. Van Soest "Nutritional Ecology of the Ruminant" in googlebooks for a more detailed description.
Yes, shark dorsal fins are triangular and straight while dolphin dorsal fins are very curved and streamlined. A Google Image Search will clarify this even better.
A rumen fistula is a surgically created entry to the rumen in the left flank of the ruminant, typically permanent and with a rubber or similar material device (a 'cannula') fitted to close it between times of use. It enables the rumen contents to be accessed, and the rumen wall to be viewed and biopsied. Surgically modified ruminants such as these are only found on research farms, where they are used to study rumen function. Looking in through the fistula, you can see the rumen contents and the rumen wall.
