There are a couple of examples that come to mind where there is a coil in a circuit. One is, the coil is used as a choke to block harmonics from going down the electrical line. Another example of a coil in the line is the coil in a magnetic contactor. When this coil is energized the contacts of the magnetic contactor close.

What is the functioning of choke coil?

A choke coil is used in several electrical devices. The function it has is to block AC currents from passing through as it allows DC currents to pass through.

How an electrical relay works?

A relay will have a control circuit and a function circuitcould be the same feed line. One set of terminals (Hot and Load) can be activated at all times, but will not function until the control circuit is closed. The control circuit has a Hot and a Ground--when activated either by supply hot or ground by switch. The internal coil closes allowing the function circuit to operate. The purpose of this relay is to reduce the spike to the alternator. It takes less current (voltage) to close the coil on the relay than it would to operate the accessory that it controls

Why is a motor needed in a circiut?

A motor is not needed in a circuit, a motor is an electrical load for the current to drive, but the circuit can perform with other types of load - such as a lamp, a transformer, a heating coil, or any electronic load. if you mean 'why does an electric motor need a circuit?' this is because the motor is an electrical device which has coils of wire to produce a magnetic field, without the circuit it cannot function.

What is an electrical circuit that produces a magnetic field?

All electrical circuits produce a magnetic field around the wires when a current is travelling. If we want to generate a large field, we can coil the wire. Such a coil is called a solenoid.

How can 220 volts be produced?

Voltage is a measure of "pressure" in an electrical circuit. Electrical voltage is produced as a function of the number of windings in a field coil in comparison to the number of windings in the stator of a generator. the greater difference in the number of windings the greater the voltage. This voltage can also be modified by transformers, which are coils in the circuit that transfer electricity from one coil to another by induction. The difference in the number of windings in one coil to the other coil will determine the change in voltage. So by taking a circuit with a voltage of , say, 110 volts, by installing a transformer that has twice as many windings in one coil than the other, you can transform the voltage from 110 volts to 220 volts.

How do you reduce the noise in electrical circuits?

Depending on the circuit, typically a combination of a coil (commonly called a choke) and a capacitor can be put in circuit at multiple places to significantly reduce noise in a circuit.

What is choke coil?

A choke coil is an inductor, which is designed to block a particular frequency in an electrical circuit while passing signals of very less frequency or direct current.

What is the difference between a magneto and a coil?

An ignition coil requires external electrical power. A magneto requires only mechanical power to create an ignition spark. If an engine HAS no electrical power (lawnmower, tiller, chain saw) then a coil would not function.

Why two trip coil require in breaker?

Transformer is HEART of the substation and Circuit Breaker is the LUNGS of the substation. At faulty condition, large amount of current will flow.so trip function is very important at that timeone coil is faulty means, another one coil will trip the connection to the healthy circuit.

What is the function of the Tesla Coil?

A Tesla coil is a device that uses resonance to boost an electrical signal to many times its original amplitude. The primary and secondary coils function as a step-up transformer which converts relatively low current at high frequencies.
