No. A mercury tracer is similar to the ford escort and they have a different bolt pattern altogether than a focus. While they look very close, there is just enough difference that they will not fit. Mercury tracers have a 4x100mm bolt pattern and a ford focus has 4x108mm.

The location of the belt tentioner is slightly different, but the serpentine belt diagram is the same as the Ford Taurus. I have a '95 Mercury Tracer with a 1.9 liter engine, and the pattern is identical with the '98 Ford Taurus. The 1.9 liter engine used with the Tracer, was used in other Ford models, so a quick cross reference with other Ford vehicles may also help if you ever need help with other problems.
