I'm not sure if your Ranger is the same , but on my 1995 Explorer with a similar dash the GEM is in the center stack of the dash , to the left of the radio On a 1997 Ford Ranget 4x4 the Gem module is located as stated above. Behind the radio and to the left.
2000 ranger 4x4 i replaced the gem and selector switch no power to transfer case motor
i have a 96 and they are -25/speedometer/GEM system -29/audio system. I printed out a copy of the fuse panel from autozone.com
IN YOUR FUSE PANEL ON THE DRIVER'S END OF THE DASH ( COVER VISIBLE WITH DRIVERS DOOR OPEN ) in location # 29 is a 10 amp mini-fuse for the audio system , and in location # 20 is a 7.5 amp mini-fuse for the radio / GEM system / anti-theft
remove trim around radio, remove radio, remove the airvent extension, computer is mounted on the side of the instrument panel. 1 bolt, and 4 connectors
The GEM in a ford windstar is located up inside the dash, above and to the left of the gas pedal. it's held in with a single bolt.
# 25 is a 7.5 amp fuse for the speedometer , GEM system on a 1996 Ford Explorer ( in the fuse panel in the end of the dash , the fuse panel cover is visible with the drivers door open )
The GEM (Generic Electronic Module) on a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT is typically located behind the dashboard, specifically on the driver's side. It is mounted on the left side of the vehicle, near the steering column or just above the brake pedal area. To access it, you may need to remove the lower dash panel.
There is a gold RPM Ranger called Gem.
I believe it is in the center stack of the dash and if you need to change it you have to remove the radio
The Gem Module is a relay that control the majority of the electrical functions in late model ford vehicles
