According to The Bible, the genealogy of Moses, back as far as Abraham is:
Abraham - lived 175 years
Isaac - lived 180 years
Jacob - lived 147 years
Levi - lived 137 years
Kohath -lived 133 years
Amram - lived 137 years
Moses - lived 120 years
Assuming that Moses is literally the grandson of Kohath, who accompanied Jacob to Egypt, and even assuming the patriarchs really lived to improbably great ages, the genealogy requires Moses to have died at least 40 years before the Exodus. The alternative, if Moses was a real, historical person, is that the genealogy is in some way inaccurate.
Moses and Aaron had a sister, Miriam. It is said that Moses, Miriam, and Aaron's mother's name was Yocheved. But, it isn't for sure, from what I know. I know though, that Abraham, the "Father of the Hebrews", is their Great Grandfather.
Moses & Aaron were the sons of Amram.
Amram was the son of Kohath
Kohath was the son of Levi
Levi was the son of Jacob
Jacob was the son of Isaac
Isaac was the son of Abraham
Exodus 6:18-20New International Version (NIV)
18 The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years.
19 The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi.
These were the clans of Levi according to their records.
20 Amram married his father's sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years.
Exodus 6:18-20 reads:
Abraham had a son named Isaac Isaac had a son named Jacob
Jacob had a son named Levi
Levi had a son named Kehat
Kehat had a son named Amram
Amram had sons named Aaron and Moses
(note that every one of them had other children as well)
because they led the Israelites, it is right and proper that their provenance be known.
Yes Aaron was the spokesperson for Moses, as Moses used to stutter.
Tracing a family tree requires documentation of the birth, marriage and children of individuals. Such documentation does not exist in unbroken line back to Moses, not even for prominent families such as ruling dynasties and scholars. Therefore it is impossible to trace your family tree to Moses.
