Well, that is a form of opinion, and comments associated with this question can hold all those opinions. But, my opinion woulds be the good thing in drawing lessons books is everything. The pictures are usually breathtaking, the steps and directions are usually made to fit your understanding. But if you are not into art, you probably won't find anything good about drawing lessons books.

Well, you could try.. Buying some drawing books and copy from them. (Amazon is good for book-buying) Practice!! Use better materials. I dont know anything else.. I started drawing Japanese Anime/Manga, and i am way better now i have a drawing book, I find copying the drawings is easier than drawing all the grid/stick people drawing thing.
