alot depends on the condition of your weapon. many of the shotguns made prior to 1945 are not built to withstand todays modern magnum loads. you should be fine if you stay with game loads and target loads. Avoid steel shot. sorry, no waterfowl hunting with that weapon. no coper plated shot either. better safe than dead or maimed. You can purchase a modern shotgun used for under 200.00 at almost any gun store. It simply is not worth pushing the envelope.
Depends on what it is choked.
It would help if you stated the model. Sears sold several different BB guns.
You can't. There is a safety recall on that model- unsafe to shoot. Sears has been buying back the bolts for years to take them out of circulation.
Safety recall- unsafe to shoot. Sears will give you a $50 gift card for the bolt.
Sears never made firearms. They contracted with various gun makers and had them "store branded" for their stores to sell.
a $50.00 Sears gift card If there is no letter after 583.17 there is a recall on this gun UNSAFE to Shoot ! Sears is giving a $50.00 gift card for the bolt to disable the gun
It MAY be worth a $50 gift card from Sears. You did not give us the model number, but 583.13 through 583.22 are under a safety recall due to a flaw in the design of the bolt. They are considered unsafe to shoot. Sears WAS exchanging the bolt for a $50 Sears gift card.
No- made prior to 1968. There is a safety recall on those guns- unsafe to shoot. Sears will trade you the bolt for a $50 gift card.
Yes I have the same shot gun and I have shot deer with this gun. when I was 12 or 13 so I know you can .
There is a safety recall on these models- they are unsafe to shoot. Sears will provide a $50 gift card in exchange for the bolt of the shotgun. No bolt- cannot be fired.
As far as I know the 583.24 was Not recalled... 583.21 were... Bad metallurgy would cause the bolt to break and shoot out backwards towards the shooters face.. Also there is a number to call sears... they will verify your model number and let you know how to send it in if there is a recall...... my info was obtained from here..... http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-196181.html http://www.histandard.info/models/private/Sears/SearsBolt.html
