Idunno the answer to yer question, but I have one too that was left to me by my late uncle who got it from yet another late uncle. Since it's been in the family forever, I thought I'd try to find out more about it too. Mine doesn't have a patent No. , It just says patent pending, so it must be older than yours. I hope someone's able to shed some insight on the guns for us. Mine has a scope on it and is in excelent condition; still shoots like brand new. Rick

Most J.C. Higgins will sell for under $300. As for serial numbers, I can't find a serial on my 583.55, so I'm going to assume they weren't numbered.
