The history of Herobrine. Two young adults were playing on their white-listed server when they thought they saw somebody with the name "Herobrine" walking away. Since they were the only ones on their server, they thought it to be weird. So they contaced Notch, the creator of minecraft, and he responded by saying: "That's the Minecraft name of my dead brother". So everybody kept saying they saw Herobrine, took pictures, made stories and much more. Notch stated that he was joking about Herobrine, and that he didn't have a brother. The two young adults made the story up just to get some publicity. After that, people began creating mods that would spawn herobrine in singleplayer, spawn him, make him kill you, and talk to you.
