The Uptown theater opened in august of 1925, accompanied by a parade and a large party. Movies were shown along with stage shows, until the decline of the 1960s and 70s. New life was brought in when music venues and concerts were shown in the late 1970s. It was closed in the winter of 1981 due to a frozen water pipe explosion. It is now being restored by JAM productions, who purchased it in 2008.
