When a lioness is about to give birth, she will seek shelter in a den or lair. When the cubs are six weeks old or so, the mother will introduce them to the pride. However, lions in general do not live in dens, but under shady trees. The area that a pride of lions occupies is called a territory, which can cover up to 100 square miles.

A den or a lair.
Traditionally this is called a lions "den". However, lions tend not to live in any one place so the concept of a "den" is actually a fallacy.

Lions live in groups that are called prides. Ten to forty lions may live in a pride. Each pride has a home area that is called its territory
