Well, using a tape measure on my 1986 Lincoln Town Car signature Series...the hood (from the chrome strip on its end at the windshield to the other end just before the hood ornament) is just shy of 54 inches long. It is 59 inches from the beginning of the hood, to the hood ornament (not attached to the hood, it is part of the grille) and 61.75 inches to the front of the grille. To go from the start of the hood (about 3 inches from the windshield) to the leading edge of the front bumper guards it is about 67.5 inches. Hope this is helpful

On a 1986 Lincoln town car, the ignition starter switch is located near the bottom of the steering column. It has a rod going into it that operates it from the key lock assembly.Ê
