Jackals eat mainly rats, and are eaten by Hyenas, Leopards, and Eagles.
I believe that hyenas are not at the bottom of the food chain because they are predators and scavengers that always have the urge to eat and consume any dead or fresh organisms around. So to me, I would rank them near the top, probably even under the lions. Really great hunters.
is wildbeast,lions,elephantcalves,hippocalves,andzebra
Hyenas are scavengers.
yes they are at the bottom of the food chain
Nope. The primary producer is at the bottom. Hyenas would be near the top, if not the very peak.No they are not.
Hyenas are not at the bottom of the food chain. Plants are at the bottom of a food chain or food pyramid. Hyenas are top carnivores and sometimes scavengers; they are at the top (not including decomposers who would be at the very top). The phrase "bottom of the food chain" was a social insult meant to say that they are easily eaten by others. However, in reality, hyenas are similar to lions in food chain "level".
the hyenas
Hyenas are top predators in the food chain. They've even been known to eat other top predators, including lionesses. Similarly, other predators do not eat hyenas with the exception of lions and wild dogs. Hyenas are considered a keystone species which means a specie that make a profound on the habitat and ecosystems where they live. In other words, predation is not the only role that hyenas serve; without their presence, the food chain and local ecosystems would be negatively impacted.
Every living thing is part of one food chain or another. A lion is the top predator in its food chain, and in the African savanna food web, it is at the same level as hunting dogs, leopards, cheetahs, and hyenas
a hyenas favorit food is zebras
Monkeys eat plants, fruits, and vegetables. But jackals, tigers, hyenas, and lions eat monkeys.
A food chain is a kind of graph i think and it looks like, for example, there may be a picture of a shark. There might be an arrow pointing from a fish to the shark. This means that the shark may have fish in its diet. A Food chain can become quite large. Humans are at the top of the food chain because we aren't hunted by any other animal. In the wild tigers eat hyenas hyenas eat rabbits etc. A producer, like grass, is eaten by a herbivore, like a rabbit, then the rabbit is eaten by a carnivore, like an owl.
Lions, cheetahs, jaguars, and maybe hyenas hunt zebras for their food. So yes, zebras are prey to a few animals in Africa.
Yes, saber-toothed cats were at the top of the food chain because they had no predators. However, they weren't the only apex predators where they lived, so they had enemies, including lions, hyenas, bears, wolves, and humans.
