It's best to not measure it in distance. Walk "briskly", meaning fast enough to feel that you're "pushing it", for between 45 and 60 minutes. Ideally you want to walk fast enough that you can't talk in full sentences but you're not "gasping" for breath.

Maintain that for IDEALLY 60 minutes for maximum benefit.
