There were many significance great achievements done by Muslim scientists during early ages of Islam, some of them are:

  1. Muslims divided the science of mathematics into many branches & classified them into these four categories " calculations, algebra, triangles & geometry". By the way Muslims are the first nation to invent algebra (the word itself is of an Arabian origin), it's the science which uses numbers & symbols mainly letters to be used instead of unknown numbers, they are all connected to each other using formulas & equations using the four major mathematical processes ( summation, subtraction, multiplication & division) this very important branch of mathematics has very wide applications in which it can be used very effectively, also many real problems can be solved using this science, the Muslim scientist who invented this science was ( Al-Khawarezmi ) who also invented the famous Logarithmic tables.
  2. Muslims were the first to invent the number "zero" & this useful usage had been transmitted by them to the Indians ,then from India to the whole world.
  3. They were the first who used the decimal numbers that are still being used until today.
  4. The famous digits which are being used worldwide are invented by Muslim Arabs. These numbers are written as 0, 1, 2, 3,..., 9. They are called dictionaries as 'Arabic digits '. The philosophy behind these digits is that the number is represented by the same number of angles in the written form. For example, the number zero is of zero number of angels, the number 1 is having one angle, the number 2 is having two angels, and so until number 9 has nine angels. Try them as it is very interesting to understand for example why we write number 7 with a horizontal dash in the middle.
