Ohel David Eastern Synagogue was created in 1959.
I've never heard a synagogue referred to as "wailing walls". At the "wailing wall" (aka the Western Wall) in Jerusalem, there is large open area that faces the Wall which functions as an open-air synagogue.

The sanctuary, where prayer services are held is the most important room, and within the sanctuary, the two most important places are the bimah, the raised platform from which the Torah is read, and the ark, the chest where the Torah scrolls are stored when not in use. It's fair to say that the ark is the most important place. Certainly, the ark is the focus of the sanctuary.

The synagogue that Jesus regularly taught in was made of black basalt stone and archaeologists date it back to at least 1AD today the only main wall left in the synagogue is the wailing wall. the women and children where not allowed past certain parts of the synagogue and had to worship in a place called the women's court. the outside of the synagogue was just a plane grey stone. the grandest part of the synagogue is the sacrifice chamber only Jewish men and priests were allowed in the synagogue.
