Very, very small. If I remember corrcetly from my reading material after I was diagnosed, you only have a 3-6% chance of getting it if your biological father has it and 2-4% chance of your biological mother has it. Type 1 Diabetes has definitely been determined as being a hereditary disease, however it only develops after other certain environmental factors are introduced (of which the specific causes or factors are still unknown). Of the entire adult population in America, about 10% are diabetics [type 1 or type 2] (population of U.S. is approx 310 million). Of those diabetics, less than 10% are Type 1 (approx. 3 million).
Ten percent, That's why almost all the info out there on diabetics are about type twos, be careful which you are reading about because you can get the wrong information about type ones easily! Hope this helps! :D
Type-1 diabetes is characterized as being genetic in origin, making family history important in determining the possibility of appearance in offspring. Since the child is born with an abnormally low number of pancreatic islet cells to produce insulin, its appearance may be as young as 2 years old and independent of diet. In this sense, children 2-15 years old are the most common group in which type-1 diabetes is observed.
Diabetes is very much genetic. I know that my fathers father had it, and now my father has it. As does my grandfather on my mothers side, and there is just as high of a chance my brother and I will have it to. Id get your kids checked. Your never to young to develop diabetes. A simple blood test should tell you if they have it or not, or even a device that will check your blood sugar. Those "pricking" machines. But it is always possible they will with there father having it.
An estimated 120-140 million people worldwide suffer from type 1 diabetes and could benefit from this procedure. However, islet cell transplantation remains highly experimental at this time and occurs only as part of a clinical trial.
its normal just try to control ur sugar to average and u wont get diabetes
Type 1 diabetes
You have a 50% chance of getting diabetes if either your father or mother have Type 1 Diabetes. If one of them has Type 2, that has nothing to do with you and nothing gets passed on between your parents to you. [This is not strictly true. Type 2 diabetes does appear to have some genetic component, in that people with one or both parents who have Type 2 diabetes have a higher incidence of Type 2 diabetes than the population as a whole, but the exact causative factor is still under investigation, and it is unlikely to prove entirely genetic.]
Of course. With type 1 diabetes, you can still do anything.
The types of Diabetes are type 1 with sub type -brittle diabetes, type 2 and juvenile diabetes, type 3 (under research) , and Gestational diabetes during pregnancy.
