The Kinetic Theory of Gases is a theory applicable to gases. It:

  • describes a gas as a large number of submicroscopic particles (atoms or molecules),
  • states that these particles are in constant rapid motion
  • further states that the motions are random
  • attributes the randomness tocollissiona between the gas particles between themselves and the walls of the container
The theory is applicable to the relationship of the pressure, temperature and volume of the gases
