How do you replace 1991 Ford Escort lx water pump?

The water pump is driven by the timing belt under the timing cover. It would be no more labor to replace the timing belt at the same time. They will only last about 90k and you could do both at the same time.To replace the water pump you have to take the timing belt off and drain the cooling system. Then, the new water pump is bolted on and the standard procedure is to replace the timing belt at that time.

Where is the timing chain cover located on a 1995 Ford Windstar and how long should it take to replace it?

If you raise the hood and stand over on the passengers side, look down at the engine. In the belt area, you will see the alternator, water pump, power steering pump, etc. Behind and underneath all of that stuff, right on the front of the engine you may get a tiny glimpse of the top edge of the timing cover. It is bolted directly to the front of the engine block, and houses the timing chain. The water pump actually bolts to the front of the timing cover. According to the standard labor time guide, which is what we all use to determine how much to charge for a job, it is about a 12 hour job. That translates to about a day and a half of straight working time.

expect about 2 hours labor and a recommdation from him to replace both serp belts and the timing belt too the serp belts need to removed to access the pump and the water pump is driven by the timing belt and if its gotten wet by the coolant it wont last long and may leave you stranded then its about 2 hours labor to replace the timing belt
