Every year the Hippodrome de Longchamp stages the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, the jewel in the crown of French racing and part of the prestigious World Series Racing Championship.
The Arc has become France's most important horse race, popular not only with the French but also with the English, who pour across the channel to watch some of the world's best horses in action. There is a great deal at stake - more prize money than any other European race, with a total of nearly €2 million shared between the first five, more than a million of which goes to the winner.
In addition to the excitement of the race, expect a wonderful display of hats and lots of champagne coolers.

Four ladies in one black dress? That can only represent a mistake by the dressmaker! Though I do remember the lovely moment in the musical 'Hair' where the 3 close harmony girl singers are revealed to be all within one huge electric blue dress.
