Rover 20T2N 2.0Ltr Diesel engine Cam cover torques are listed as 12 Nm. No tightening sequence is listed .
What_are_the_torque_settings_and_tightening_sequence_for_the_cylinder_head_bolts_on_a_Rover_200_K-series_engine
20nm then 180degrees then another 180 degrees Left to right back row 9,5,1,3,7 (back row nearest windscreen) Left to right front row 10,6,2,4,8 (front row nearest radiator)
The torque settings are 40 to 45lb/ft for the outer row, 65 to 70 for the centre to inner row. Haynes (Methuen & Coomber 1999) doesn't specify any particular order for refitting the head bolts; follow the standard automotive practice of tightening the ones furthest apart and moving inwards.
Idealy you should always replace the head bolt. most cases it is mandatory. check your specs. if the tightening sequence finishes with a 1/4 turn or some non foot pound reference then the head bolt must be replaced.
This covers the rover K8 1.1 engine Sequence 9 5 1 3 7 flywheel side of engine 10 6 2 4 8 Tightening torques stage 1 20 newton meteres stage 2 + 180 degrees stage 3 + 180 degrees again I hope this helps best wishes Mike 2
For the 3.9 head bolts (streach bolts) only use new bolts and follow this sequence: Tighten to 20nm in correct sequence. Then tighten each bolt 90 deg turn in correct sequence. Wait 15 minutes. Then tighten each bolt a further 90 deg turn in correct sequence. Done.
The Rover 800 series was first introduced by the Austin Rover group. The Rover 800 series was co-developed by the Honda car manufacturer in Oxford, UK.
if it is a K series engine as I imagine it will be the torque setting is, in 3 stages, first 15lbft/20Nm , second mark bolt heads and turn all half turn (180 degrees) third and then half turn again. Looking into the engine from the front of the car, left is the timing belt end, back row is nearest the windscreen then the tightening sequence is back row left to right 9,5,1,3,7 front row left to right 10,6,2,4,8
Torque Stage 1. 20Nm Stage 2. +180 degrees Stage 3. +180 degrees Sequence 9 5 1 3 7 10 6 2 4 8 Bolts 7 & 8 are flywheel side of engine
Sequence 9 5 1 3 7 10 6 2 4 8 bolts 7 & 8 flywheel side of engine Torque Stage 1. 20Nm stage 2. +180 degrees Stage 3. + 180 degrees.
no they are different. It will fit the same, however a series 3 land rover has syncromesh on all gears whereas a series 2a only has syncromesh on 3rd and 4th.
