Greek was the dominant language of the eastern Mediterranean region. However, Aramaic was the language used in Palestine at the time of Jesus, and would have been spoken by the earliest Christians. As Christianity spread beyond Palestine, Greek became dominant among Christians, and the New Testament was written in Greek.

Answer:

No "holy" language is mentioned in scripture for Christianity or any other of man's religions or any nation, culture or creed. According to The Bible only one language existed in the world in the beginning, and it crossed the flood with Noah:

"...the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech." (Gen.11:1)

With the incident at Babel, however, many corrupted variations of languages resulted... none of which the Bible labels as "holy."

But prophecy suggests that a "holy" language is coming on the world when Jesus comes back:

"...Therefore wait ye upon Me, saith the Lord, until the Day that I rise up to the prey: for My determination is TO GATHER THE NATIONS, that I may assemble the kingdoms, to POUR OUT MINE INDIGNATION, even ALL MY FIERCE ANGER: for ALL THE EARTH SHALL BE DEVOURED WITH THE FIRE OF MY JEALOUSY. For then will I turn to the people A PURE LANGUAGE, that they may call upon the name of the Lord, to serve Him with one consent..." (Zeph.3:8-9).

The languages of men are all vile corruptions uttered by the unbridled tongues of men and are unfit to be uttered in God's direction or to even utter His Holy name.

"...the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!" (James 3:5)

It's evident that God Himself will reestablish a one-world language when He returns that He will find acceptable when the nations address Him. Perhaps then, the term "Holy Language" may be coined.
