The large Venezuelan lake is Lake Maracaibo, but it does not empty into the Atlantic Ocean, but rather into the Caribbean Sea.
Named for the English navigator, Sir Francis Drake, the Drake Passage is a narrow, violent body of water between Antarctica and South America that served as the ocean connecting point between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans until the opening of the Panama Canal.
