PrinceSanty: In the FAT32 File System Microsoft MS-DOS versions 4.0 and later allow FDISK to partition hard disks up to 4 gigabytes (GB) in size. However, the MS-DOS file allocation table (FAT) file system can support only 2 GB per partition.
The short answer is 2 TB. The long answer is that it really depends on your computer and the version of DOS you are using.
DOS relies on the BIOS to access the hard drive. At many points in history, the size of hard drive that a computer could support has hit a major stopping point that could not be fixed without an updated BIOS. These include
* The 1,024 cylinder / 504 MB barrier * The 4,096 cylinder / 1.97GB barrier * The 8,192 cylinder / 3.94 GB barrier * The Int13 / 7.88 GB barrier * The 65,536 Cylinder / 32 GB barrier * The ATA / 127 GB barrier Computers made since 2002 have LBA48 support, meaning they can support hard drive up to 144 petabytes. MS-DOS cannot use FAT32 partitions larger than 2 TB, although larger ones might be possible under DR-DOS and FreeDOS using 2 KB sectors instead of 512-byte sectors. MS-DOS 6.22 is stuck at the Int13 barrier. MS-DOS 7, DR-DOS, and FreeDOS can all break the ATA barrier, depending on the BIOS.
Since DOS is a FAT16 OS, its maximum partition size is 2GB.
DOS can support multiple partitions as like windows but the maximum partition will be of 2 GB maximum, as DOS supports FAT 16..
2 GB
There is no limit on the size of a hard driveformatted with FAT16. The only limit is the size of a FAT16 partition on the drive. The maximum size of a FAT16 partition is 4 GB.
MS DOS partition is always a DOS partition.. You can not make a Non-DOS partition using DOS..
4 on an ms-dos style partition table
4 on ms-dos partition table
Four partitions.
As it is currently supported by the drivers in Windows, an NTFS partition can be no larger than 256 terabytes.
Assuming one of them is an extended partition on an MS-DOS partition table: Eight. If the partitions are all primary partitions: Four.
The Fdisk command is used to change hard disk partitions in DOS.
FAT 16 file system support 2GB partion.
The size limit of a partition will depend on the firmware of the computer in question, the size of the hard drive, and what file system is being used. For example, many older BIOSes cannot see past the 127 GB barrier, the largest single hard drive currently available is about 2 TB, and the maximum size of an NTFS partition is 256 TB.
