On the other hand, the country of Mexico has several seaports such as Veracruz, Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas or Salina Cruz.

Mexico does not have shores on the Atlantic, unless you count the Gulf of Mexico or the Caribbean Sea as part of such ocean. The largest port on Mexico's western shores in terms of bulk load is Cayo Arcas, on the state of Campeche (67.2 MMT). In terms of passengers, that would be the port of San Miguel de Cozumel, with 4.03 million passengers arriving/leaving each year.

Manzanillo, Colima and Lazaro Cardenas are the three most important ports on the Mexican Pacific. Acapulco is also traditionally viewed as a large port, but its importance has waned trough recent years.

The biggest in terms of cargo hauling is the Lazaro Cardenas Port, located on the Mexican Pacific coast. It handled 30.7 million tonnes of cargo and 1.24 million cargo containers during 2012.
