Yes. "Cranky Kong" is Donkey Kong from the original Donkey Kong arcade game, in which Mario was known as Jumpman, and he was on an endless quest to rescue Pauline. It has been referenced since the original Donkey Kong Country game that "Cranky Kong" is in fact the original Donkey Kong, if you pay attention. For instance, when the game is first loading up and showing the developer splash logo, it shows "Cranky Kong" on the top of the last level of the Donkey Kong arcade game cranking a phonograph (a really old record player). He also refers to "his past adventures" when he was DK's age.
The last key in Donkey Kong 64 is at the end of Hideout Helm. You have to complete the level, and have 4 battle crowns plus the Nintendo and rareware coins to get the key.
Donkey Kong 3 was the last DK NES game, the next was Donkey Kong Country for the SNES in 1994

Hmm, a toughie this one. Donkey Kong I know off Mario Kart, but Candy Kong isn't on there, so I think no. Even though their last names are the same, Candy Kong is more of a Chimp. Donkey Kong isn't a Donkey, a monkey! If that helps, good. Candy is a Chimp. Donkey Kong is a Monkey because, this is the story: when Nintendo Japan sent the fax to Nintendo in the US it said "monkey kong" BUT the fax machine messed up the M and it looked like a D hence "donkey kong" instead of "monkey kong" funny accident, but a true story.. and it suits better

If you are referring to the monkey with a pink shirt and hat, then it is Dixie (last name is Kong). If you are referring to the old monkey lady residing in a Kremling school, then it is Wrinkly (last name is also Kong).

it currently is the last game on the market, however there isn't a strong enough conclusion to actually end the DK series.
