The East Siberian Uplands extend south and east from the Lena River in eastern Russia, and include the Verkhoyansk, Yablonovyy, Cherskogo, Dzhugdzhur, and Nagorye mountain ranges. The region extends from approximately 50° to 70° N, and east from 110° E to just past 180° longitude.
Although less than half of the region is above the Arctic Circle, the continental location and high elevations lead to extraordinarily cold climates throughout the region.
The Nagorye Range is in the extreme northwest, from 60° to 70° N and 160° to 180° E.
