What is the legal age to babysit in New Jersey?
Well, there is no specified age to babysit. The parents are looking for high maturaty levels, experience(certification in babysitting, first aid, cpr, etc.), and tipically someone who knows alot about babysitting and safety, and just loves kids!
According to CPS (child protective services), the legal "latchkey" age for children to be home alone during daylight/business hours is as young as 8 years old. The legal age for a child to babysit his/her own siblings during any time, but not overnight, is 11 years old. The legal age for a child to babysit children who are not siblings is 12 years old.
