Chile is a long narrow country. If, by "left to right" you mean west to east, then you are measuring its WIDTH, not length. It is roughly 250 miles west to east, but over 2,000 north to south.

A custom in Chile is the changing of the rings. Before a couple is married, the ring is worn on their right hand. When they announced man and wife, they change the rings from the left hand to their right hands.

Well, there are two answers to your question. Chile & Argentina South America is slightly like an Isoceles (I-sose-lEs) Triangle, (a triangle with two sides the same length and one side different). At the point where it ends in a point, there are two countries. Chile on the left/west, and the larger of the two, Argentina, on the right/east. In a way though, Chile goes slightly further south.

It is quite similar to the Flag of TEXAS in USA, but the blue and star are only on the left corner, and the red goes below from left to right. Chile's flag was created before Texas one though.
