A Breast Cancer that has spread to the lungs is still considered Breast cancer, not Lung Cancer. It is described as a breast cancer that has been metastizied. That's is METS. Once Breast Cancer has spread beyond the breast it is considered Stage 4 and is no longer considered curable. It can definitely be treated and I know women who have Mets who are still alive many years later. They do need treatment but there are many different ways to treat it. I know a woman who was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer 19 years ago and she is still alive and living a good life.

Usually secondary brain cancer is caused by Lung Cancer. Once the cancer has spread to the brain it is usually in the advanced stages (stage 4). At this point with Chemo Radiation (or both) the patient is expected to have 3-12 months. Some longer, but it all depends on how far the cancer has advanced before treatments have begun. Also the physical condition of the patient. I hope this helps you. Not very good I'm afraid. I would say that if it's only in the beginning stages than there is a chance to "cure" one of the two through therapy... but realisticly, I would estimate that... maybe a year... tops... Just make sure that he is well cared for and if there are any last wises or deeds he would like to have done. I'm sorry to hear this...

She has been on a trial chemo up until June 2014 and was taken off since tumors grew now we found a small tumor in her brain. She had gamma knife procedure 2 mos ago. What can we expect in the future. What is her life expectancy.
