I am very sorry to hear about the problems with your relative. Whether you are religious or not only God knows the answer to your question. None of us can tell you how long this person will live. Some people that are classified as terminally ill can live for many years to come, but with Diabetes on top of it all it's highly unlikely. My mother had Dementia complicated with Diabetes (had it since she was 35) and lived to be 83. Having to be put in a nursing home (my brother and I simply couldn't meet the health needs she would require) didn't help her life expectancy. She was a very independent lady and didn't do well in the nursing home. Because of her Dementia she refused to eat and also take her insulin. She had that right to die with dignity and she left this world thankfully, with a small sigh and it was over. I hope this will give you some comfort as it did me.
