The egg came first. Edit: Since DNA can be modified only before birth, a mutation must have taken place at conception or within an egg such that an animal similar to a chicken, but not a chicken, laid the first chicken egg. The modern chicken was believed to have descended from another closely related species of birds, the red junglefowl, but recently discovered genetic evidence suggests that the modern domestic chicken is a hybrid descendant of both the red junglefowl and the grey junglefowl. The egg came first, since all animals go through an egg stage. The mutation concept mentioned earlier is just a theory, it had never been proven.
A bankiva is a subspecies of red junglefowl, Latin name Gallus gallus bankiva.
There's no possible way to know who was the first person to fry a chicken. The bird we know today as a chicken is descended from the red junglefowl, or possibly a cross between the red and grey junglefowl. The junglefowl originated in Asia, and it's believed the chicken of today was first bred in southern Asia. So we can be reasonably safe in guessing the first person to fry a chicken was an Asian person, but that person existed very long before recorded history, thousands of years ago. Whoever it was, they'd have been eating raw eggs long before they tried cooking a chicken, and their first taste of Asian Fried Chicken would probably have been quite a revelation.
The modern chicken was believed to have descended from another closely related species of birds, the red junglefowl, but recently discovered genetic evidence suggests that the modern domestic chicken is a hybrid descendant of both the red junglefowl and the grey junglefowl. Since DNA can be modified only before birth, a mutation must have taken place at conception or within an egg such that an animal similar to a chicken, but not a chicken, laid the first chicken egg. --- But if the bird that laid that "first chicken egg" was "not a chicken," then how could the egg have been a chicken egg?
