Usually when we see picture of any Saints or Guru or any Divine Incarnation we see a halo drawn behind head.In real there is nothing but in the picture there is a halo drawn to signify the knowledge, divinity, spirituality etc. In the same way, we see halo drawn on the painting of Guru Nanak just to emphasize the knowledge.
Hope this helps.

Keep you head covered in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, show respect.
The Guru Granth Sahib is a living Guru and must be treated with respect. The Guru Granth Sahib is carried over ones head as a sign of respect. A Guru Granth Sahib usually has a bedroom or resting area in any Gurdwara. If a Guru Granth Sahib is kept at home it must be placed in the highest room in a house. It would be totally unacceptable to find a Guru Granth Sahib in a library for example. Hope this helps
