In an attempt to save peoples tax money , as te re was a small recession on , she wated to stop the free ice cream given to school children. The people then reacted by shouting a slogan . THATCHER THATCHER ICECREAM SNATCHER.

absolutely wrong. She removed free milk from school children, ice cream was never provided.

Before her political career, she was a chemist who worked on the team that invented Mr Whippy (Mr. Softee) style soft ice cream.

It is worth pointing out also that Thatcher only withdrew milk from PRIMARY school children above the age of 7.

Harold Wilson of the Labour government actually removed free school milk for ALL children above the age of 7 in 1968 so it is kind of ironic that Thatcher is remembered in such light.
