casting number right above exhuast header it start with RF-xxxx the difference is focus and escape have a non vct engine and cougar mystique contour and escort zx2 are vct equipped
Some VCT(variable cam timing) system applications can eliminate the need for an external exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system. The elimination of the EGR system is accomplished by controlling the overlap time between the intake valve opening and exhaust valve closing. The 5.4L 3V engine is equipped with a VCT system that allows Exhaust gases into the engine by overlapping valves instead of the use of a EGR valve and related components.
The 1999 ford contour is equipped with VCT. Variable Camshaft Timing. You"ll see VCT stamped on the valve cover. Part of the VCT's purpose is to eliminate the pcv valve. You do not have one.\ The above answer is WRONG!!! The PCV valve is located near the catalitic converter on the backside of the motor. Changing it can be a tough if you don't know what you're doing. refer to a shop manual for more info. It is wrong. I've been trying to figure this out for a while with all the different suggestions on the web. I was about to remove the heat shield and started feeling around for the valve. Standing at the front of the car, there is an opening toward the right side of the heat shield. You can feel a hose going behind it. follow the hose and the PCV valve is at the end of it. It's a tight fit but it can be done. Just pull off the hose and then pull out the valve.

the ford escort zx2 2.0 dohc don't have one it's equipped with vct(variable valve timing) to replace it
