Need to know what states will be crossed and the total weight of the vehicles.
In the UK, the maximum axle weight for a trailer axle on a 6 axle trailer is 8500 kg. In addition it must have road friendly suspension. With a 5 axle vehicle the maximum axle weight is 11.5 tonnes.
There are several types of trucks which drive OTR. For a single axle expedited truck, it's 33,000 lbs. For a tandem axle expedited truck, it's 54,000 lbs. For either a standard five axle tractor-trailer combination or a set of A-doubles, it's 80,000 lbs (although some states will allow a set of A-doubles to run 92,000 lbs).
Depends on what exactly it is.. twin steer, tandem axle truck with pusher axles, etc. For a tandem with two pusher axles, 18 - 21 tons, dependent on location, local laws, wheelbase, road type, etc.
In idle? The configuration of the tractor has nothing to do with determining that. It's the motor which does, and the consumption rate in idle for a motor would be the same for a tandem axle dump truck as it would be for the same motor in a road tractor, box truck, quad axle dump truck, cement mixer, etc.
I think I should define "Bobtail" This means a Truck designed to tow trailers going down the road withou a trailer. Semi Trucks or in europe Articulated lorries are designed to tow trailers, from there we get to single axle, tandem axle, Tri Drive, Day cab, Cab over, Sleeper and other configurations. Ups has single axle Semi "Tractors" (The name for a semi truck without its trailer) as short as 15 feet. Some of the longer extra large sleeper set ups make the truck 35 feet long.
Poorly balanced wheels, too stiff a suspension, just a bad road in general.
Anywhere from 5 to 25 tons, depending on model, configuration (e.g., single axle, tandem, tri-axle, quad axle, quint axle, 'centipede', "superdump', etc.), state and federal bridge laws, and type of road it's on (as many states allow higher weights on secondary roads than on the Interstate).
It's a dump truck with four axles--the steer axle in front and three axles in back. One of them moves up and down via a control in the cab, so the tires aren't on the road if the truck's not loaded. A tri-axle dump truck carries more weight than a one-axle or two-axle truck.
Longest road middlesbrough
Average weight of a road tractor and 53' dry van trailer is around 38,000 lbs. The Loaded weight is 80,000 lbs which is the legal maximum weight for a standard 5 axle tractor trailer.
It varies by state in accordance with wheelbase, what type of axle and tires used (e.g., dual tires or 445 'super singles' on a 20k axle vs. a lesser rated steering pusher with 285s), whether it's on a primary or secondary road, etc.
The Interstate 40 is the longest road in Wilmington.
