You can calculate your energy used by resting (called your Resting Metabolic Rate) by using the following formula:

* For men: (10 x w) + (6.25 x h) - (5 x a) + 5 * For women: (10 x w) + (6.25 x h) - (5 x a) - 161

w = weight in kg

h = height in cm

a = age Keep in mind that this is merely an estimate and can vary based on many factors such as your body makeup (more fat vs. more muscle), etc.

What is the body's resting rate of energy expenditure?

The body's resting rate of energy expenditure is known as the basal metabolic rate (BMR). BMR represents the energy required to maintain basic physiological functions while at rest, such as breathing, circulating blood, and regulating body temperature. It accounts for the largest portion of total daily energy expenditure.

What is the definition of metabolic weight?

Metabolic Weight = Energy expenditure and basal metabolic rate depend on the amount of metabolically active tissue in the body, rather than total body weight. ...Or something like that ;-)

WHAT DO BASAL METABOLIC RATE MEAN?

Basal metabolic rate (BMR), and the closely related resting metabolic rate (RMR), is the rateof energy expenditure by humans and other animals at rest, and is measured in kJ per hour per kg body mass.

Where are most of the calories in your food burned?

Most of the calories consumed through food are burned through your Basic Metabolic Rate. This is the energy required by your body to simply stay alive, and accounts for between 50% and 80% of the bodies total energy expenditure.

What is turnover rate of plasma glucose pool?

Glucose is available in pools of plasma once it is created by biological processes. The turnover rate has to do with energy expenditure for the animal.

What does BMR stands for?

BMR stands for Basal metabolic RateIt is also called the resting metabolic rate and is the amount of energy you expend in a normal resting state at normal temperature.It is used to calculate your calorific expenditure

Which gland determines the rate of which the human body uses energy?

Thyroid gland determines the rate at which human body utilizes energy.

The rate of diffusion through a semipermeable membrane will be lowest when?

The rate of diffusion through a semipermeable membrane will be lowest when temperatures are low. Lower temperatures decrease the energy of the molecules, which in turn decreases the rate of diffusion.

What is basal rate?

Your metabolism is the processing of food into energy that the body can use. Anything that you do, any activity at all, requires some degree of metabolism. But if you are not doing anything (other than resting) then your metabolism is at the lowest rate that it ever is. That is called the basal metabolic rate.

How are work energy power related?

The rate of expenditure of energy is power. To perform work energy is needed. So rate of doing work is also known as power. Unit of energy and work is one and the same i.e. joule. So unit of power is J/s This is also termed as watt.
