The lowest segment of the large intestine is the anal canal.
The sigmoid colon is the fourth and last "S" shaped segment of the colon, just before the rectum.
The rectum.
Large intestine
The large intestine is found in all four quadrants of the abdomen.
The large intestine consists of three distinct regions: 1) the cecum, 2) the colon, and 3) the rectum. The cecum is the first section of the large intestine below the ileocecal valve. The appendix is attached to the cecum. Since the colon (ascending, transverse, descending, and sigmoid colon) is the largest region of the large intestine, the term "colon" is often applied to the entire large intestine. The rectum (rectum, anal canal, and anus) is the final region of the large intestine and the end of the digestive tract
The colon, or large intestine, is the region of the human gut that absorbs water from indigestible material. The reabsorbed water is then recycled in the body.

The large intestine is the region of the alimentary canal that produces no digestive enzymes.
I guess you could say the lowest intestine is the large intestine. Here is a simple sketch illustrating the position of the organs in a human body. http://boortz.com/images/human_organs.gif
Colon and Large Intestine =)
Oral Cavity-> Pharynx-> Esphagus-> stomach-> small intestine-> large intestine-> anus
The large intestine has that name because its diameter is larger than that of the small intestine. The small intestine is actually longer than the large intestine.
The diameter of the large intestine is greater than that of the small intestine.
