they must be at least 25 years old

-they must be a U.S. citizen for at least 7 years

-and they must live in the area they want to represent

For the senate its very close to the same

-they must be at least 30 years old

-must be a U.S. citizen for no less than 9 years

-and they must of course live within the state they want to represent
