A human riding a bicycle will be using up chemical energy from the food he's eaten, and turning that into kinetic energy. If the ride takes him up a hill he will also gain potential energy.

Matter is unchanged.

Total Energy is also unchanged, but its form is changed (from chemical to mechanical to kinetic and finally into heat).

A boy on a bicycle is resting at the top of a hill. Then, he rides his bicycle down the hill. Describe how the boy’s potential and kinetic energy differ at the top, middle, and bottom of the hill.?

A bicycle rider is traveling up a hill. When the rider reaches the top of the hill, she stops to rest.then she travels down the hill. Which one describes it?

When the rider is at the top of the hill, her potential energy is the greatest, and her kinetic energy is the least.

Energy stored in a bicycle at the top of a hill?

That is potential energy.

What type of energy destroys other energies?

Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It is converted to other forms of energy. There is potential energy and kinetic energy. Sitting on your bicycle on top of the hill you have no kinetic energy, only potential energy. When you ride down the hill, the potential energy is used up (you go down the hill) and it converts to kinetic energy (speed). "What happens when you stop at the bottom of the hill - wasn't the potential and kinetic energy destroyed?" No. All the potential energy was converted to kinetic energy. The kinetic energy was converted to heat through the wind resistance. So, if you had an extremely accurate thermometer, you would see the air and bicycle temperature rise as you went down the hill.

On a 10 second very steep hill bicycle which energy pathway does your body use?

By Anaerobic pathway of glucose break down.(Glycolysis.)

What causes a bicycle to speed up going down hill?

gravityGRAVITY

Why do the brake pads on a bicycle become warm when you ride down a hill?

friction

What type of energy exists in a ball sitting on top of a hill?

kinetic energy

Which of the following is an example of kinetic energy?

A.A child riding a bicycle down the streeta car in motion has kinetic energy because, Kinetic energy is energy due to motion.

Is kinetic energy energy stored in a bicycle at the top of a hill?

No. On top of the hill the bike would have potential energy. If released, by letting the bike roll downhill, it'd turn into kinetic energy as the bike picks up speed.

Is rolling down a hill potential or kinetic energy?

Yes, because potential energy is energy stored but kinetic is energy in motion.

Why is a rock on the top of a hill kinetic energy?

A rock on top of a hill has potential energy, not kinetic energy. If it starts rolling down the hill then the potential energy transforms to kinetic energy.
