It actually depends on what type of glue it is.

Most household and crafting glues contain cyanoacrylate as the main ingredient, which is a fast-drying substance.

But you will not find this ingredient in all glues. And you definitely won't find it in glue designed for children.
Glue designed for children is primarily wheat starch dissolved in a water base, which means it's non-toxic if it ends up in their mouth (and is why it doesn't last very long).
