The main ingredients in ordinary cookies are fat (shortening, butter or oil,) sugar, eggs, flour, leavening (baking soda or baking powder,) salt, milk or sour milk, and flavoring. The fat, sugar and eggs are combined first, then the dry ingredients are combined separately and added alternately with the milk or othe liquid. Flavoring extracts, Chocolate Chips, nuts, fruit or other additions are folded in last.
